Cooling is a very important phase because tempering is the final process, obtaining the transformation of the structure and therefore the hardening.The cooling can be carried out with more or less intensity based on the heating temperature chosen during the first phase (relative to the type of steel being used).
This process can be carried out using different techniques, such as: water, oil, a mix of water and refrigerating oils, calm air, forced air.
Each of these methods listed will guarantee specific mechanical characteristics on the particular part.

The induction hardening heat treatment is performed by placing a steel part inside an electromagnetic field.Thesteel part placed within the electromagnetic field, at certain precise frequencies, self heats.
Therefore, it is not the machinery that generates the temperature, but the materials themselves that contain carbon (such as steel) which activates conditions so that the transformation and hardening takes place.
The advantage of this technology is the fact that treating only the surface area subject to wear gives the greatest possible hardness allowed
by the type of steel and / or cast iron used, while the remaining part (not hardened) maintains the original elasticity thus avoiding any breakage
of the part itself due to the greater hardness conferred.
This process offers considerable mechanical advantages: by hardening only the surface area that's subject to wear, the rest of the body of the mechanical part is left to maintain the original elasticity characteristics.
